Michael Semmens is the president of Imprimis, Inc., an organization dedicated to supporting government and businesses providing a broad range of management, training, engineering, data/telephony network services, and technology related services.
Much of Michael’s 30 year career has been devoted to alternative energy conducting research in solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, energy conservation and controls. His core strengths center in technology development and commercialization. He was the project manager of the first commercial photovoltaic power plant connected to a utility grid (PG&E), a 2–axis facility that provided 98% availability for over 10 years in an unattended mode. Semmens later served as the head of an advanced energy storage organization developing advanced lead acid and Lithium Ion energy storage technology and manufacturing processes.
Semmens is the Chairman of the Rocky Mountain Technology Alliance (RMTA), a non–profit regional development organization established in early 2004. The RMTA combines the efforts of industry, government, and educational institutions in the Rocky Mountain Technology Corridor for the purpose of developing, applying, and commercializing technology. The RMTA includes large and entrepreneurial companies and government organizations, including national research laboratories, involved in such technologies as microelectronics, MEMS, nanotechnology, aerospace, near space, defense, software, computer and networks, and manufacturing.
Michael Semmens is a graduate from Colorado State University in 1972/74 where he was a graduate teaching assistant, performed biomedical engineering research under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation, and received honors as a graduate student.
